Blaze a Trail at the Trailhead

We have gorgeous trails here in Ohio. And we plan to meet on a trail for Mother’s Day this year. I was raised to appreciate nature, so my family always went on hikes wherever we lived. But it wasn’t until I searched “trails” in my photos that I realized how many trails I’ve been on and in how many different climates. I guess I’ve been blazing trails in more than just the figurative sense.

I love it when things fit together so nicely, like when I can find a theme. Themes help me focus and they unleash my creativity. You can imagine how excited I was to discover the theme of trail-hiking and trail-blazing. Now the idea's are poppin'. It’s sweeter still because my new community membership is called The Trailhead because those who have taken courses with me are trailblazers. And I'm creating The Trailhead right now. So the work I'm doing here can be scaled to create a framework for our new community too.

The first thing we need when venturing out on a new trail is a map. I want to know what kind of terrain is ahead, how long it is, are there places to get water or use the restroom and generally where the trail leads. Most trail maps will provide those things.

Here's a pattern inspired by a map of walking trails. In, the Trailhead, membership, I will be be creating a map of the trail we can all follow together and you will design a trail map for your own personal goal.

I've also designed a pattern using the radial repeat tool and and the grid tool with just one motif, the dandelion. In the Tech Lab of The Trailhead you'll find tech demo videos on tools like the radial repeat on the iPad. I use it quite often. Here's the pattern I designed what that tool.

Another Adobe app I use on the iPad and iPhone is Capture. I will take one of these photos to get my color theme. From there I'll add colors to make a palette on the iPad.

We will kick-off the opening of The Trailhead on May 14th with our two zoom calls. Enrollment will be open until May 13th at 11:59 pm EST. You can enter it now and help design The Trailhead hub before I begin launching on social media.

Below is the Freeform board I used for brainstorming Trails. If you click on the picture it will give you an invite to Freeform which is on Mac iOS devices. Please add whatever you like and play around with the board.
